about me

Currently I am working as a Development Manager at Turbopromote Inc. in downtown Toronto, Canada. I graduated with a Computer Science degree from the University of Toronto so long ago I can't remember. Since then I've pursued an exciting career in software development which has led me to the far corners of the earth, including Philadelphia, PA and New York, NY, both not too far south in the 'States.

I am a lover of all kinds of music, the internet, and science. My all-time favorite thing to do is learn, if you discount my love of taking weekend journeys to the centre of the Earth.

The ladies love it, the guys are jealous of it, and the children adore it because it tastes like chunky lemon-lime milk.

I usually carry a digital camera in my pocket with me, so take a peek at my photo gallery for an example of my photography skills. If you don't agree that they're awesome to the max, then, well whatever.

the wish list system

Everybody likes getting presents. Unfortunately, my family has the problem where everybody is ridiculously hard to buy for. In order to solve that problem, I devised a wish-list system whereby users can join for free (yes, even you!) and post things they would like to receive on an online list. Then they can connect with their friends through the system and reserve gifts for those friends without them knowing what they're going to receive. Enough talk; give it a try.

mp3 id3-tag editor

Why isn't there a decent — heck even a simple — MP3 ID3 tag editor written in Java out there? What freakin' year is this, anyway? Well, there is now, darn it. Click here to run it (Java WebStart required). Alternatively, download the JAR file and run it by typing "java -jar id3.jar com.darylbeattie.id3.ID3" at the command prompt. If all else fails, here's a screenshot so that you can see what you're missing.
